As I sit here eating left over Girl Scout cookies and whining about my weight, I decided to write about my weight loss journey and all of its ups and downs.
Rewind to 6 months ago and I was 135 pounds. No wait- don’t click away! 6 months later and I’m 168.8 pounds. That’s right. In 6 months, I gained 35 pounds. And I didn’t even get to enjoy any food leading up to the weight gain. I packed it on as a side effect of a medication.
At first, the medication only made me gain 10 pounds, but I didn’t realize where the extra weight came from; I just thought I ate at Taco Bell one too many times. But when my doctor upped the dose, and I suddenly gain another 25 pounds, I realized I was taking a demonic medication and immediately asked to go off of it. Unfortunately, just going off of the medication didn’t help me to drop the extra weight like I hoped. And thus begins my weight loss journey.
The first thing my doctor prescribed me when I approached her about a weight loss drug was Ozempic. I was excited and hopeful, especially after hearing about this miracle drug all of the celebrities like Kim Kardashian were taking. I thought I hit the jackpot! The medicine everyone was dying to get was mine.
My dreams were very slowly crushed as my extra weight stubbornly didn’t even budge a pound. I was on Ozempic for two months with no results before my doctor switched me to Saxenda. And… once again, there were zero results.
I didn’t even get side effects from either of the medications. It was like I wasn’t taking them at all!
A month and a half of Saxenda later and here we are: at Mounjaro. I just took my first weekly dose at 168.8 pounds. This blog is going to be every gory detail of my journey—and don’t worry, I’ll lay off the Girl Scout cookies.
I promise I will be taking this seriously and dieting along with injecting. The Girl Scout cookies are just a little goodbye present for myself. A goodbye to junk food and hello to grilled chicken breast and string beans. Yum…
This blog is being written under the assumption that Mounjaro is not going to be a failure like my previous two weight loss medications.
Here’s to healthy weight and healthy food… and a healthy mind. Good luck to all those on this journey with me.
And put down the Girl Scout cookies.
Follow along on my journey! I have many more update posts on my blog under the “Weight Loss” tab!
