Grandma’s Secret Recipe

What’s your favorite recipe?

Sorry. You’re not getting the recipe for this. My late grandma entrusted it with me and only me, so I won’t be sharing it here, but I will be sharing a short story.

It’s a special dish around the holidays that my grandma as famous for making. She brought it to every Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve. (We’re Italian on the other side of the family so we do Christmas Eve instead of Christmas Day.)

Before she passed away she gave me her recipe. Unfortunately, I didn’t think to ask for it in her handwriting, and I just have the recipe clipping that she got from a magazine.

So technically some other people have the recipe, but the clipping is probably older than I am, so good luck.

The recipe, so called by my grandma, is called pear crunch.

Image searching for that name is helpless, but searching for cranberry crisp turns up some better options.

I’m not sure where this name came from because it’s not on the magazine clipping, and I would describe it as a cranberry pear crisp… but grandma’s recipe keeps grandma’s name.

Everyone always begs me for this recipe, especially on holidays when I’m too busy to make it, but it’s staying locked in my recipe vault.

I’ll give out my recipe for corn pudding though. And that’s also a huge hit. Let me know if you want it!
