My Favorite Kid TV Shows

Daily writing prompt
What TV shows did you watch as a kid?

I’m going to start off with when I was really young:

Little Bear– Set in the North American wilderness around the end of the 19th century, the series follows the titular character as he goes on exciting adventures and learns new things with his friends Emily, Duck, Hen, Cat, and Owl. Mother Bear is a homemaker who looks after Little Bear, while Father Bear, a fisherman, is typically away on his ship, fishing.

The Big Comfy Couch– Loonette the clown and her dolly Molly solve everyday problems while residing in the comfort of a large couch.

Now a bit later into my adolescence:

The Wild Thornberrys– The series focuses around a nomadic family of documentary filmmakers known as the Thornberrys, famous for their televised wildlife studies, as they travel the world in the “Comvee”, a large, amphibious, multifunctional overland motorhome which doubles as their base of operations. It primarily centers on the family’s younger daughter Eliza, and her secret gift of being able to communicate with animals, which was bestowed upon her after having rescued a shaman masquerading as a trapped warthog.

Rocket PowerRocket Power revolves around the day-to-day zany hijinks of a gang of four young and loyal friends; the adventurous and vain sports enthusiast and perfectionist: Oswald “Otto” Rocket; his tomboyish and kind-hearted older sister: Regina “Reggie” Rocket; Otto’s dim-witted but loyal best friend and videographer: Maurice “Twister” Rodriguez; and the brainy techno whiz kid and relative newcomer: Sam “Squid” Dullard — who live in the fictional Southern California beach community of Ocean Shores, where they spend their free time playing varied extreme sports (such as skateboarding, surfing, snowboarding, biking, street hockey, etc.), getting into various situations and overcoming the trials and challenges of growing up.

SpongeBob SquarePants– An American animated comedy television series. It chronicles the adventures of the title character and his aquatic friends in the fictional underwater city of Bikini Bottom.

Now a bit later:

Lizzie McGuire– An American comedy television series created by Terri Minsky that premiered on Disney Channel on January 12, 2001. The series stars Hilary Duff as the titular character who learns to navigate the personal and social issues of her teenage years. Duff also voices an animated version of Lizzie that performs soliloquies to express the character’s inner thoughts and emotions.

Hannah Montana– an American teen sitcom created by Michael Poryes, Rich Correll and Barry O’Brien that aired on Disney Channel for four seasons between March 2006 and January 2011. The series centers on Miley Stewart (Miley Cyrus), a teenage girl living a double life as famous pop singer Hannah Montana, an alter ego she adopted so she could maintain her anonymity and live a normal life as a typical teenager. Episodes deal with Miley’s everyday struggles to cope with the social and personal issues of adolescence while maintaining the added complexities of her secret identity, which she sustains by wearing a blonde wig. Miley has strong relationships with her brother Jackson (Jason Earles) and father Robby Ray (Billy Ray Cyrus), as well as her best friends Lilly Truscott (Emily Osment) and Oliver Oken (Mitchel Musso), who become aware of her secret.
