Spots, Pimples, & Blemishes, Oh My!

We’ve all had them. Those annoying, sometimes even painful pimples. Some even gross and ugly. But how do you get rid of them? Let me review my failsafes:

Mario Badescu Drying Lotion: Admittedly, this is very harsh, so I wouldn’t use it if you experience skin irritation easily, but it definitely does what its name implies- it dries out your pimple.

Keep in mind you’re not supposed to shake this product. You want all the pink stuff to be on the bottom and all the clear liquid on top. So, that being said, what I do is stick a q-tip down into the pink part then plop it right on the offending spot. It will sometimes burn like crazy, but I take that to mean it’s working. Then I leave it on overnight and wash it off in the morning during my usual morning face routine. It’s a very powerful treatment, and I use it on my biggest blemishes.

Mighty Patch Pimple Patches: If you're looking for something a little gentler, then these are for you! They're more than just a standard pimple patch; they actually work. There's no gimmicky cute shapes (and I love a gimmick so that is a little sad), but they didn't skip out on whatever skin magic technology they have. It definitely dries out pimples, but not as much as Mario Badescu's Drying Lotion. Although, they definitely draw out a lot of gross stuff, and the proof is in the pudding so to speak- you can see it right on the patch when you take it off in the morning.

They come in a lot of different sizes too, so if you have a large problem area instead of just one spot, you can slap a large patch on. I sleep with these on (any size) as well.

White toothpaste: Okay, okay, I know. Gross. Unhealthy. Whatever. If you're in a pinch and have nothing else to use- its a helpful alternative. Say you're on vacation and wake up with a huge one, but you didn't think to bring either of the above mentioned products- what are you going to do then!? Just slap some on before bed, and sleep with it on like the other products. It works similarly to the Drying Lotion, where it dries out the pimple, just not as well.

What products do you swear by? I'd love to hear about them! I'm always looking for a new holy grail! Let me know in the comments!
