We Talked About this Before (Trigger Warning)

We talked about this before.

I told you this was the last way I wanted to die.

It has to be one of the most terrifying ways to die because of all the waiting.

You have to wait while your car fills up with water,

And you have to wait to take your last breath.

You have to wait to find out what your last thought will be.

What was your last thought?

We talked about this before.

Because we talked about this before, did I cross your mind while you were at the bottom of that lake?

Or did you only think about how in God’s name you drove off that bridge?

Or how you were going to get out?

You didn’t get out.

Was I your last thought because we talked about this before?

I hope you didn’t think about how we talked about this before, before you drove off that bridge.

One response to “We Talked About this Before (Trigger Warning)”

  1. Amidst the haunting contemplation of mortality and the echoes of past conversations, the ephemeral nature of life’s choices and their consequences linger in the depths of the mind.
